Thai tea or Cha Thai or Cha Yen “Cha” means tea and “Yen” means cool/cold. Dried Thai tea leaves is mainly produced in Northern region in the mountains of Chiangrai, Chiangmai, Phrae, Maehongsorn, Lampang and Nan provinces. Besides 87% of tea plantations in Thailand is Assam tea, Chinese tea is also widely grown.
Thai iced tea is made with Assam black tea, sweeten condensed milk, sweeten creamy vegetable oil powder, sugar, vanilla flavor and yellow food coloring to make it look more delicious. Traditional Thai tea is made by putting dried tea leaves into a cotton filter bag then poured over by boiling hot water for a few times.
