Chef name is Arm. He will pick up/drop off from our hotel. Part of the cooking experience is a visit to a local market to buy the basic ingredients to be used for the cooking lesson. Chef will explain to us the different types of fruits, herbs, spices, meat etc at the market, and it was definitely nice interacting and seeing the local’s way of life.
When we arrived at chef's Small House for the cooking class, everything was neat, clean and
efficient. Ingredients were laid out for each session and we just had to follow the simple instructions. A recipe book was given to us at the end of the lesson. Arm was also patient and encouraging along the way.
Truely enjoyed our 3 hours in his house learning to cook simple northern thai food. Do sign up with him!
Started the day going to a local food market to get the ingredients, we tasted 1 or 2 items there too
Then we went to Arm (the Chef)'s home to cook.
We tried lots of local fruits and herbs 🌿
Cooking began soon after with clear instructions.
We each had our own station to prepare the food and we're shown all the steps.
Everything was effectient and the kitchen setup was professional.
We used lots of local thai ingredients and the food turned out great under the chef Arms guidedance 👨🍳
You can spice the food to a level of your choosing
The room is air conditioned too, so its comfortable and not too hot
Questions are encouraged and Chef Arm is very knowledgeable.
Great experience 🍜
His house is surrounded by fresh herbs and spices that he uses in his recipes. You can tell he’s genuinely passionate about what he does. He also gave us lots of great tips on what to visit and where to get an amazing Thai massage.
He took us to a local market where we bought all the ingredients together, with plenty of explanations along the way.
Highly recommended — we truly hope to see him again one day. He’s a fantastic person!
We were very well received, the quality, the good humor, and of course, the dishes were excellent.
Communicating with Yves via email was very simple and easy, even several months in advance. It was an unforgettable moment, and I'll be back as soon as I can.
Thank you 🥰
It was really very nice and clearly friendly
Knie in particular did well for us and was very good!
I would definitely recommend this course to others!

The cooking was simple yet comprehensive and all our dishes turned out well, hopefully we'll be able to bring some of the great tastes of Thailand home with us! Arm's cookbook as a bonus!
I was also very impressed he spoke very good English and seemed to know Japanese well.
It was also quite nice he picked us up and dropped us off at our hotel.

The most rewarding part of our trip to Chiang Mai - We took our class with Arm in January of 2019, and booked a few weeks in advance. Arm gets quite busy during the high season, so be sure to use... read more his website and book ahead. Arm, the owner and chef, is a former five-star chef turned thai cooking teacher, and the flavor of the recipes and his understanding of the ingredients leaves you with no doubt that he did very well in his former career. Now, Arm picks you up and takes you to the market in the morning to buy ingredients. The market trip could easily be the best part, if it weren't for Arm's menu of delicious meals that you're about to prepare and his welcoming home. While the menu changes from day to day, we made Thai Salad, Red and Green Curry, Pad Thai, and Mango Sticky Rice. Learning about how all the flavors balance each other out, and tasting throughout the process made this a very hands on experience. With such a small class (it was my husband, myself and another couple), it was easy to ask questions as needed. I can't say enough about spending your day with Arm. Book it now.

Thanks for a wonderful introduction to cooking Authentic Thai food! - There are many great things about this cooking course. The small group size, which is never more than four people per class. Shopping for ingredients in the local market, during... read more which Arm bought fruits and other Chiang Mai specialities that we were interested in trying. Arm himself: he is a very friendly, knowledgable and generous host. Learing about the ingredients we cooked with and how best to prepare them for our dishes. Sitting down and enjoying the delicious food we made with Arm and the other class members. Coming home with the confidence to recreate these dishes with the help of the recipe book Arm provides after the class. In addition, this class is also great value when compared with other cooking courses available. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who loves eating - and wants to learn more about cooking - Thai food.

Wonderful intro to Thai cooking and food shopping - My husband and I took the intro class together and highly recommend it. Arm took us through the market, explained how to pick produce, and patiently answered all our questions.... read more He even purchased extra fruits because we were interested in trying them.
The class itself was wonderfully paced, alternating cooking and eating for about 5 hours. The food turned out delicious, and Arm was very accommodating to taste preferences (specifically an aversion to cucumber and fish sauce, which are prevalent in Thai food). Yes, he will encourage you to use lots of chilis - that's Thai cuisine.
Being capped at 4 people, you really get a chance to chat with your classmates and with Arm. One of the best parts of the class was getting to chat with Arm as we ate.
